Prior to relocating to Shetland I had worked as a portrait photographer specialising in headshots for actors. The majority of my clients were women, so it seemed like a natural progression to start a project in a similar theme.
Commencing in 2005 (and completed 2007) I started seeking volunteers from amongst my friends and aquaintances. Following an interview on BBC radio Shetland and in the local press other participants contacted me.
Having only been in Shetland a couple of years it was a fascinating way to discover the people and the geography, driving the length and breadth of the islands to have a cup of tea with a stranger and take their picture.
